Fairytale Ending

The Sun Sets on Château de Chillon

They arrived at sunset. It was beautiful-breathtaking, really-like something out of a fairytale. The Disney versions, even. But Jensen knew that this story was closer to the ones handed down before the Grimm brothers got hold of them and gave them a good polish.

Her grandfather had made sure she knew those versions. He’d wanted her to be tough, not under any illusions.

She thought of the girls who had been brought here, one at a time, and wondered what illusions had filled their imaginations as they first laid eyes on this place, with its Happily Ever After facade. They must have thought they were entering a romance novel. Horror and True Crime was surely the farthest things from their minds.

At least until their boats docked.

As the boat pulled closer, Jensen flashed her badge at the uniform on the pier and donned her scuba mask. Time to bring up the bodies.

Nicely done. I probably shouldn’t have read the prequel first. This was very nicely done.

Disappeared happiness
by Tjanne

Every month, the same day, a different place a girl disappeared. And every time there was the same story about the disappearances. A friend found a letter in the house of the missing person which contains always the same words: ‘Don’t wory, I’m gone, discovering my real happiness.’ Nowadays, 21 girls are missed and the police have lost their hope while they are tracing the missing persons.

21 girls, 21months! Almost 2 years have passed away and still there is no trace of the missing girls. What is more is that everybody lives in uncertainty. Nobody knows if the girls are still alive and still there is no suspect. However, the investigators won’t give up.

Although, the citizens do not believe that the girls are still alive. One day a man raised alarm when he saw his neighbour, digging in his garden. Eventually the man was not exhuming the bodies but he was just placing a swimming pool.

The confidence is lost, hope is melting away and still there are not any traces found. when will this story end?

Writer’s Block

“Go on, write something.”

“Write what?”

“Anything. It doesn’t matter.”

“I can’t just write anything.”

“Why not?”

“Because that’s just not how it’s done! You have to have characters, and a scene and, you know… plot. I don’t even have an idea.”

“So?”

“So, how can I write if I don’t have any ideas?”

“You’re writing now.”

“What?”

“Look.”

“Look wh—? Oh. Huh.”

“Don’t stop. Keep going.”

“I can’t.”

“Why not?”

“I don’t know where to go.”

“Well, what happens next?”

“So far, nothing’s actually happened.”

“Then make something happen.”

“Like what?”

“I don’t know. You tell me.”

“You’re supposed to be my inspiration. Shouldn’t you tell me?”

“That’s what I’ve been trying to do.”

“Fine. Here’s something: “The sun imploded, and every body died. The end.’”

“I’m still here.”

“You’re still not helping.”

“And yet you’re still writing.”

”…shut up.” … “Hello?”

“You said shut up.”

“I didn’t mean it. I’m sorry. Talk to me. Please. Tell me what to do.”

“Just write.”

“Here we go again…”

I think I’ve had this conversation with myself a hundred thousand times. It’s actually what led me to write my ficlet “The Cleverest Thing Anyone Has Ever Written”. I like this, though. This is a nice twist on the “writing about being unable to write” idea. I like it.

erm….secret of writer’s block? Considering what a pain writer’s block is, yoITSme, it’s really quite unkind of you to withhold that secret from all of us. ;-]

Anyhow. I love this. I agree with Ben Paddon, I have had this conversation at least a million times. Love how you turned it into a really cute Ficlet.

      1. No problemo.
And I’m only replying to your thank you to comment on that icon. Is it weird that the expression on the Joker’s face reminds me of JM? Yes? Right then.
        *hides under rock*

      2. Not at all, at least to me, since until I saw Heath Ledger in the role I was convinced that James was the only actor who could ever truly do it justice, partially based on that image. Actually, I still kind of think that.

      3. Oh wow–you’re so right! I was so stuck on Johnny Depp being the only person capable, but James could so do it. Yeah, if they ever make a third one with the Joker character, I will not accept anyone besides those two actors. Yep.
